Clomid (clomiphene) is a medicine intended for women that have been diagnosed with infertility due to deficient hormonal stimulation. With the help of this drug an egg is released from the ovaries and enough of stimulation is provided. This medicine increases the risk of multiple births, which is risky both for the mother and fetus. Pregnant or breastfeeding women must not take this medicine as Clomid can cause life-threatening birth defects in unborn babies. Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome is a condition sometimes reported by people taking Clomid. The symptoms of this condition include swelling in the hands or legs, weight gain, shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting.
